Homemade Granola Bars
My family eats ALOT of granola bars, so I decided to try and make my own from a recipe I found in Prevention magazine. What I like best is you can mix and match the ingredients to what your family likes. This recipe has been modified to better fit my taste.
2 c. Natures Path multi-grain oat bran cereal
3/4 c. chopped almonds
2 T whole wheat flour
1/2 c chopped dried cranberries
1/4 chopped walnuts
1/2 chopped raisins
1/3 c organic brown sugar
1/2 tsp salt
2 egg whites
1/2 tsp vanilla
2 T Chia seeds or wheat germ
Heat oven to 300 degrees. Line a 9×9 pan with foil and oil it. Mix cereal, fruit, nuts and flour. Mix sugar, salt, egg whites and vanilla in small bowl then combine with the dry ingredients. Pat into pan with moist hands. Bake about 45 minutes. Once cool, cut into about 18 bars.
I stored mine in an airtight container separated with wax paper. But trust me, they won’t last long! These are better than any I have purchased and better for you too. Enjoy!
